Hmmm...to make sure I understand you correctly: does this only happens if you 1. enter full-screen 2. connect an external display 3. exit full-screen in that order? I don't know if it matters, but on which display do you have the menu bar when there is an external display connected (or do you keep it on both)? Does it matter if you switch this around?
