Back to square one: Yesterday I put the above command in my .vimrc and 
restarted Vim. Spell checking started working. This morning it is not. 

Surely Vim is not that quirky. Must be something I've done or not done, 
something I don't understand about Vim or spell checking on Vim. 

Pointers appreciated.
