The problem occurred last night when I was changing stuff in
Preferences in MacVim. Basically now every time I open a file with
MacVim, the entire content is automatically highlighted.

I could turn it off by either commenting out "highlight search result"
in vimrc (which isn't a good solution because I do want that feature)
or choosing "Toggle pattern highlight" under Edit -> Global Settings
(which works only for the current window).

I tried resetting my preferences by issuing the command "defaults
delete org.vim.MacVim" but it didn't fix the problem.

The stuff I changed in Preferences before the problem occurred was

1. Open new file in tab instead of window.

2. Unchecked "use experimental renderer" under Advanced tab.

I changed both back after seeing the problem, but didn't help.

Any idea is much appreciated.
