.vim/vimfiles?

What's the shortcut (like $HOME, $VIMHOME, etc.) for the user's .vim
or vimfiles directory? I use the same settings on a Mac and on
Windows, and this is the main obstacle to making my sources work
seamlessly cross-platform.
