Probably because no one wrote one yet. Are you ready to try? Like any 
filetype, it might (at the most) require
- a filetype-detecting entry: either for filetype.vim 
($VIM/vimfiles/filetype.vim as long as Bram doesn't take it up), or a 
$VIM/vimfiles/ftdetect/gas.vim if you want a standalone plug & play package
- a filetype-plugin ($VIM/vimfiles/ftplugin/gas.vim)
- a syntax-highlighting plugin ($VIM/vimfiles/syntax/gas.vim)
- an indent plugin ($VIM/vimfiles/indent/gas.vim)

You may want to publish the results in vimball form. See ":help :MkVimball".

If you do it, and the results are good, Bram might take it up in some 
later upgrade of the runtime files, especially if it gets popular acclaim.
