I've noticed that too, especially when pasting "from" a very busy
application such as an instance of Firefox 2 with 170 tabs. Selecting
the latest clipboard item in klipper (the KDE clipboard tool, which has
an icon next to my clock) helps solve this problem.
Since you're mentioning versions, Vim 7.2.060 was published about three
hours ago. If 7.2.22 is all that Red Hat offers, you can compile 7.2.60
for yourself without much trouble -- see my Vim page.
