I think I may have to resurrect this old thread... Don't know what has
happened, but the problem has re-surfaced on my Vista 64-bit laptop -
and shellslash doesn't help, and having // slashes doesn't help.

And I have no idea what could be different compared to last night,
when things worked fine.

I have tried to use procmon.exe to see if I could get some information
out of there, but nothing useful jumps out.

Another odd thing:
//127.0.0.1/c$/log.txt - opens quickly
//127.0.0.1/share/log.txt - bogs down vim

Any help in locating what the problem is very welcome... !
