IIUC, Linux on z series uses ASCII.  Does anyone use vim with EBCDIC
these days, I wonder?

The licensing of Linux on z series appears to me quite forgiving (in
the context of mainframe OS licensing), as one would expect, so I
wonder if z series shops configure a Linux or two to get a unixy
environment and vim (but the best of many tools)?
