I confirm this; I've been seeing it for some time on Linux gvim. I have
one quite large session, saved under the default name by ":mks!" and
loaded back by "gvim -S", in both cases with no filename argument. I've
been having problems when using :lcd with various current dirs. When
:lcd is not used, the problem disappears.
