You're missing something, certainly: I've never used that feature and I
assumed (incorrectly) it will open new client windows O:))

I wrote an application using DBus so only one process is opened at any
given time and new client windows are launched from that process if a
new instance is run (instead of having multiple processes, one per
window). I assumed that Vim worked more or less the same, sorry.

My fault, and thanks a lot for pointing.
