IIUC, scripts from the Indian subcontinent (such as Devanagari,
Gujarati, etc.) are even more intricate to display than Hebrew and
Arabic (which Vim can do, after a fashion) because both shaping and
ordering vary according to which characters are being used in what
sequence (e.g., IIRC, the "long [i]" vowel is written on the left side
of the consonant which precedes it in both pronunciation and Unicode
text), and, AFAIK, no Vim programmer has, as yet, undertaken the task.
It is certainly a worthwhile goal, but I don't think it'll be fulfilled
any time soon unless someone both capable and motivated takes the task
to heart the way Nadim Shakli did for Arabic, and before him, Mortaza
Ghassab Shiran for Persian and Ron Aaron (and Avner Lottem) for Hebrew.
So, you may type Indic characters into Vim using an Input Method,
digraphs, keymaps, or |i_CTRL-V_digit|, but don't expect Vim to display
them correctly-shaped and correctly ordered in all cases.
