Whether this happens by default or is configurable is up to the plugin
itself, but after opening any window (the term is window, not buffer)
you can make it vertical and force it to the right by typing CTRL-W L
from normal mode (or CTRL-W H to force it to the left).
TagList in particular is supposed to default to being vertically
split. If you've properly installed the plugin, see :help taglist-
options, and :help 'Tlist_Use_Horiz_Window' for the particular option
that you DON'T want set.
