I don't think there's a native way to do it, but you can post-process the register into which you recorded it to remove the last item (the <esc>), something like this (untested) [record macro into "a", go into insert mode, do stuff, press <esc> and press "q" to stop recording] :let @a...@a[:-2] which should snip off the terminal <esc> from the macro stored in @a -tim -- You received this message from the "vim_use" maillist.
