Well, if you have
/* comment1 ( */
open1(
/* comment2 ) */
close1)
without matchit, % jumps from open1 to comment2 and vice-versa.
With matchit, % jumps between open1 and close1, or between comment1 and
comment2.
In vimscript, when the cursor is on a parentesis,
normal %
jumps to its mate, skipping any matched ( ) pairs. So you don't need to
reinvent the wheel.
