Hi all,
I am having an issue with the ".vimrc" file.
There is a dos format file that I am opening with gvim, on a unix
platform. And as expected, when I open the file, I see carriage return
(^M) character at the end of each line.
Then I can clean up the file easily.

The problem comes about when I create an ".vimrc" file.
I noticed it is not about the content of the ".vimrc" file, but it is
more about the actual existance of this file. In other words, when I
just do "touch .vimrc" so that I create an empty ".vimrc" file, with
absolutely nothing in the file, then when I open the same file, I
don't see that carriage return characters anymore. But instead what I
see is that on the bottum of the file, where it spells out the name of
the file, it adds the word [dos] !!!

Does any one know why I see such a behavior? and what is the way
around it? How can I just have gvim shows the carriage returns, if it
is in fact there?

thanks in advance,
--Rudy
