Depending on the mode in which the mapping is used, it might be an insert-mode map. You'd want to look at the output of both

  :map
  :map!

If it's in one of those, you can determine the source by prefixing it with "verbose":

  :verbose map
  :verbose map!

If it's truly not a mapping, there's something particularly suspect going on.
