I can work around it by either launching it using
$ gvim -f&
or using a launcher from the menu.
I am not sure if this is a purely gvim issue or also related to its
interaction with an X window manager because it seems to only occur
when I am using compiz. If I switch to another WM, I can launch gvim
in terminal using $gvim and it does not freeze.
Any ideas? Thanks.
What version? What GUI flavour? You can answer by pasting the first few
lines from the output of the :version command, until and including the
line which ends in "Features included (+) or not (-):". You may find it
easier to copy-paste from an xterm or similar X11-based terminal
emulator, after running the GUI-enabled executable in console mode in it.
Best regards,
Tony.
