I've done a completion mode indicator with the statusline, it indicates which one of the 15 completion modes you're in when you type, here's the link: http://bluegene8210.is-programmer.com/posts/27873.html text was in Chinese but there are several screenshots where you can see what I'm talking about. It's the most complex and funny thing I've done so far with the statusline.
