Hi there, I am a great fan of vim; be it on windows or linux or other unix boxes.
One issue though which I often have, specially on solaris servers, is that I can't install vim since I don't have root rights to install vim in /usr or /usr/local. One would suggest compiling vim from source and to set the install dir to some home directory. Issue with compilation is that often times, the server does not have the compiler or all the libraries or dependencies which vim compilation requires. As such, I am looking for some portable or personal version of vim which I can use from my home directory. Any idea where I can find such thing or any idea how I can build such binary (that's possible with Windows vim, surely should be possible for Solaris) ? Otherwise, if I can have a list of vim compilation dependencies, that would be great (the dependencies though should be able to run from a home directory) ...
