If your GTK or KDE (or Windows or Mac) theme doesn't help, then AFAIK you can't, other than by changing the C source, maybe, but I don't know where; and recompiling. Needless to say, the expected return on investment is probably too low to justify making the attempt, possibly negative (side-effects, regressions, ...).
