Not working here (Windows 2003, Thunderbird 7.0, exteditor 1.0). Same error in JS Console.
This seems to be an error in the plugin; even when using "notepad" as the text editor, it would not get called (verified with procmon). => Faulty plugin; nothing to do with GVim.
