Uh, found it out myself: The server I compiled vim was the server where I compiled python 2.6 and somehow it got confused with the python version. I moved to another server, yum-installed python-devel and ruby-devel and then this worked:
./configure --prefix=/home/philipp/ --enable-multibyte --enable- rubyinterp --enable-pythoninterp Now I have ConqueTerm working - nice!
