I'm trying to figure out a way to show some kind of alert inside Vim that is not triggered by a keypress from the user (CursorMoved or CursorHold), but by some notification from the environment that Vim is running is.
Is there any way to do this, or is this just impossible? For example, the elinks program can update based on notifications from another process.
