How do these timings compare with your timings on reading your $HOME/.vimrc file and your total startup time?
$ vim --startuptime timing.log test.sh ... 1797.217 1198.909 046.691: sourcing $HOME/.vimrc ... 2271.114 000.030: --- VIM STARTED --- Seems the bulk of the startup occurs at my $HOME/.vimrc file.
