If you are a new user to (g)vim, you need to get familiar with the
excellent help that is builtin.

Start with :help

You must know use of CTRL-D, :helpgrep, etc.

For your specific question, you need to check :help :vimgrep
If you scroll up a little in the help text, you'll see:
The advantages are:
- Line separators and encoding are automatically recognized, as if a file is
  being edited.
- Uses Vim search patterns. Multi-line patterns can be used.
- When plugins are enabled: compressed and remote files can be searched.

You can use "vim search patterns" in :vimgrep.

You should check :help pattern next..
