If you need this highlighted for Python programming, you can just set
in your .vimrc:
let python_highlight_all = 1
or at least:
let python_space_error_highlight = 1
If you are interested how to do it, you can always look in
$VIMRUNTIME/syntax/python.vim and look for python_space_error_highlight to find
the regex and "syntax match" commands used for the matching.
