This demonstrates that the gui cannot replace these characters. I don't want to build my own version, mainly because I can use the command line. It's when I try to explain to others (who have the 'standard' issue gvim), that it seems strange that the 2 input methods are different. However, that's how it is. Thanks very much for you efforts.
