OK so I've pretty much managed to get Vim working the way I want now but
there is one issue that has been bugging me for awhile.
Say I have NERDTree open and open a file. That file then becomes the
main file which is great. I then go back to the NERDTree window and open
another file by pressing i which splits the current main window and
displays both files. This is also what I want.
The problem comes when I want to open a third file. How can I control
which window is split? As far as I can tell Vim just splits the last
opened buffer which is not always what I want. This becomes more of an
issue when I have 5 or more files open in different splits especially
when using both vertical and horizontal splits.
