(If you're using actual console vim as opposed to gvim, this might not be relevant.) My approach was to modify the dark blue colour to one I can see properly, this has the advantage of fixing the colour everywhere it is used. I did it by defining a different blue and using that in my colourscheme, but you might be able to modify the existing colour - these lines in rgb.txt: 0 0 139 dark blue 0 0 139 DarkBlue To test you could just modify them manually and restart gvim. If you're using Windows such changes can be lost when vim is upgraded. This thread [1] described how I made sure the rgb.txt changes aren't lost. I think (from reading the help files, haven't tried it) that under *nix this isn't a problem since the rgb.txt file is part of the general system files.
