Charles Campbell provided a good answer, but for a 1.5GB file you must have a lot of RAM, and you must disable some features before starting.
First, use your operating system to copy yourtabdelimitedfile to ambulance-only-file. Then do the following: vim (or gvim) :set eventignore=FileType noswapfile undolevels=-1 :e ambulance-only-file :v/\c\<ambulance\>/d :wq However, that is really asking a lot, and it may take a long time. Vim is for editing a file, not for filtering a 1.5GB monstrosity. John -- -- You received this message from the "vim_use" maillist. Do not top-post!
