Ok, so there is - right there in the docs: " Some plugins (I'm looking at you, vim-notes) change completeopt by for " instance adding 'longest'. This breaks YCM. So we force our settings. " There's no two ways about this: if you want to use YCM then you have to " have these completeopt settings, otherwise YCM won't work at all.
