You might want to read up at :help 'pastetoggle' which is a setting that allows you to toggle 'paste', documented in :help new-options-5.4 saying 'pastetoggle' option: Key sequence that toggles 'paste'. Works around the problem that mappings don't work in Insert mode when 'paste' is set.
