After you have mixed down your music project and sent it to iTunes, send it back to iTunes through the media browser, see the guide, GarageBand5 with SnowLeopard tracks and effects.
Once your project is back in GarageBand5 add compression, brightness, or, what ever your ear tells you that you need. You will need to change the name of your project slightly, or, just add the word "retouch.
