Hello Sam. I got the latest version of audacity just now and I think I got it. When you go to audacity go to preferences. I'm using snow leopard so it might read a little differently but you might here something say unknown. this is where you pick your different categories. Press the up arrow a few times, then press tab untill you reach the input pop up box. your mic should be in there. select it then tab over to ok. Press r to start recording and spacebar to stop.

By the way, on this list, for some reason when you reply you gotta go to the "To" field and put in the mailing list address or only the person who sent the message your replying to will receive it.
