Subject: Mac TV won't boot. Clock battery or something else?

I have a Mac TV that won't boot up. The problem is somewhere on the
motherboard. When I replace it with the board from a Performa 575 it
works fine, (a bit of an upgrade, really: 040, four times the RAM
capacity, thousands of colors) but it would be nice to have it in
original condition again, it's not really a Mac TV without the tuner!

Could a bad clock battery be keeping it from starting? I know some old
Macs wouldn't start with a dead clock battery, but I don't know if
this is one of them. I don't have a meter to check the battery, and
don't want to shell out the $10 for a new battery if that's not the
problem.

Anyone with a working Mac TV want to take their battery out and see if
it still boots up? You'd be my hero!

Thanks,

John
