I'd like to add one more:

Those hexagonal adjustment tools that fit into adjustable ferrite 
cores in wound inductors, the horizontal control on an SE/30 is one 
of them, can crack the ferrite if you're not careful.

Plastic tools will bend a bit but beryllium or ceramic tools will 
allow you to apply too much force especially of there is a drop of 
glue holding the core in place.

It's also important to avoid magnetic materials for the hex tool. An 
"Allen" wrench might fit but the magnetic iron it's made of will 
affect the performance while it's in the core and make it impossible 
to make the adjustment.
