So in addition to trying to backup all my old hard drives, I am also
sorting through my boxes of hardware and have a question about the
WGS PDS card. I have two of these cards and while they are almost
exactly the same, they have different ROM labels...
Older Card (9314 Date Code?) :
Pisces
1.1
2D02
Newer Card (9330 Date Code?) :
341-0957
c1987-93 Apple
Without breaking out my chip programmer, I have no idea if they are
actually the same or not. Does anybody have any idea if these are
different?
I must say that I am getting paranoid about the PALs, GALs and EPROMs
losing their programs after all these years... I wish there was some
way to get Apple to release the program files.
Another question... Has anybody ever tried testing these cards in a
Q-950 running Mac-OS? Does the cache improve system performance? Or
is it tied into running A/UX? If it does improve performance, how
much? Maybe I'll need to run some tests myself. So much to do
already though...
I had forgotten how much... "stuff" I have acquired over the
years... Hopefully my wife continues to be understanding.
Derek
