There is probably a simple solution to this, but I thought I'd ask before I start tearing stuff apart. My Quadra 650 runs great, except for one little problem... it won't stay off. It's running 7.5.5. If I do a Special/Shutdown, it complies. As soon as it has powered off (screen blank, fans and hard drive spinning down), it suddenly powers itself back on and starts to boot. It's not currently plugged into a powerstrip, so quickly flipping a switch after the Shutdown is not really an option (it's plugged to a UPS under the desk). Each time I have to yank the power cord from the back of the Quadra (hopefully before booting gets underway). When I want to use it again, I simply plug in the power cord and Bong!!!
I thought the PRAM battery was dead on this unit, but I set the clock last night (it was 10 minutes off) and it has the current time right now. So I guess that's not the problem. Could it be the non-Apple ADB keyboard that's attached? At one time, I had my IIGS keyboard plugged up to it, but don't remember if this was happening then. Let me check. Nope. That didn't make any difference. Any ideas? Lonnie. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Vintage Macs group.
