The comm protocol used by the original keyboard and mouse is detailed
in Inside Macintosh, Vol. III. That's the old version, before the
reorganized the books and named them for their topics. It is also
discussed some in "The Guide to the Macintosh Family Hardware." You
can probably pick up both on Amazon at low prices. At least, you used
to be able to. And I should add the caveat, that I'm only 80% sure
that it was volume III. It could have been II or I, but I'm pretty
certain it's III.
Of course, this info is only useful to you if you have the wherewithal
to build an adapter with a FPGA or microcontroller.
