I can't tell you how many times I, too, have seen something I thought was rare on eBay and came runner-up in bidding, resulting in much hand-wringing and second-guessing of my maximum bid.....only to have the same "rare" item come up in another auction a short time later. What did those cards sell for when new? My guess is a grand, but that's just a guess.
