You know one of the things one should always consider is that NOTHING,
absolutely nothing is safe.
Whenever you ship anything it pass through the hands of more than one person
and along the way there is always the chance that someone gets lazy, wasn't
paying attention or slipped while handling your package.

If I were able to get access to the appropriate shipping materials I would
say that the Foam/Spongy material that used in the laptop boxes that IBM
ThinkPads were shipped in for warranty repairs would be my packing material
of choice. You need it on all corners and on all sides if possible. But if
you have asked anyone who I've shipped something to you'd find out that if
you have a MacGyver mindset then you make due with whatever you could find
that would get the job done.

I'll give one example of a 20" Aluminum Cinema Display I shipped in the past
which was in perfect condition other than being non functional. I believe my
list of materials were: bubble wrap, adult pampers, foam and newspapers
crumpled up. It got there in one piece via USPS Priority Mail as the regular
ground was only a few dollars less including insurance and delivery
confirmation.

Any btw, you gotta consider if the items is better shipped rigidly or
cushioned. Without taking that into consideration the item may not arrive
working but still look absolutely fine.
