Yes, using a Mac IIfx or Mac IIsi ROM SIMM is an option, but (a) it's usually too expensive and (b) it breaks compatibility with System 6.x. Most people do this only to run OS 8 on the SE/30.
MODE32 should do the job, in any instance.
