Hi, I used to have a copy of Norton Utilities that worked under OS 7.6.1... I don't know what I did with it.. but I have a feeling it was lost when I had some disks stolen(and no doubt trashed as soon as it was discovered it was all old software) while I was setting up the last Mac left after the stupid school district I was in had decided to replace all the Macs with Dells way back when I was still in High School... But enough about that..
The problem I'm at now is I don't know what version it was. I'd really like to know what versions of Norton Utilities worked with what versions of Mac OS. And hopefully it won't be too difficult to get a hold of these older versions... I know piracy is bad and all.. but I can't help but notice that the archives I bookmarked a few years ago are all MIA. I'm also wondering what virus software would be good to put on my IIfx which currently is running 7.6.1 ...It's got 128MB of RAM... so memory isnt much of a constraint.. but I'd still like something that wasn't a resource hog. I had an original floppy for Virex 3.something or other around here.... I installed it on my SE.... but it seems to have vanished in the shuffle of reorganizing things(would it be fine to copy it from the SE's system to the IIfx?)... I also have Norton Antivirus 5.0. I know viruses are not such a big thing on the Mac but I personally have in the past gotten them... I think I caught three with Norton back when I was using my 6100 and trading floppies in the library at school(all shareware folks, I swear!). I have a ton of floppies from unknown sources to go through so I'd like something that just automatically scans on insertion. -Matthew Carpenter --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Vintage Macs group.
