I have a Quadra 840av with two Atto Silicon Express IV cards connected to two 9.1 GByte Seagate Cheetah hard disks. I was curious if there was/ is any RAID software that was ever made that would run on a 68k Macintosh. So far I've gotten a copy of AppleRAID 1.0.2, which runs only on NuBus based Power Macintoshs and Atto's ProTools, which requires a PCI Power Macintosh or better.
There is an article on LowEndMac where someone is discussing a RAID setup on an 840av but I simply don't know what software is being referred to. I have Mac OS 8.1 on this machine but if software allows I will be downgrading to System 7.5.3 so I can run the Radius VideoVision suite and preserve the legacy nature of this marvelous system. I really am curious what kind of RAID performance I can get out of a 40 MHz machine with "modern" hard disks connected to it. The 840av's video/ sound circuitry is truly amazing and I am impressed how fast this machine functions with Adobe Premier 4.0.
