Just remember to apply the firmware updates BEFORE attempting to install OS X
on a CRT iMac! Do not even try booting a CRT iMac with an OS X disc before
you've done the firmware updates.

If you DO boot one with an OS X disc and get the message about having to update
the firmware DO NOT DO A PRAM ZAP! The OS X installer mucks about with the
NVRAM in such a way that it's very difficult to get the iMac to working again
should you zap the PRAM before rebooting to Mac OS and updating the firmware. A
friend of mine went through this with an iMac, wasn't any big warnings on the
web about what NOT to do, took him quite a while to get the old thing to boot
to OS9 so the firmware updates could be done.

If the latest firmware update refuses to install, get the one just prior,
install it, then the latest one.
