Well, after all the mess i think i figured out the issue. I decided to
try turning it on just one more time, and this time got the garbled
monitor, then slowly it began to come back. Shortly thereafter the
hiss started to dissipate. I smelled the air vents for any hint of
burning electronics, and instead got an odor of burning dust. I think
there may have been some dust on the CRT tubes or something that once
burned off was no longer affecting the screen. The thing seems to be
