What utility did you use for this ? What computer is it anyway ? What
system software ?

Usually you partition with the formatter. I've never seen Lilo for
macs, that's the Intel Linux bootloader's name.

Intel has fdisk partitioner and mac has pdisk, which has a mac version
which does allow edit partition table, but if it gets corrupted you
are in trouble. But if it works then next boot into macos it will ask
you to format the partition in the allowed kinds (hfs, dos, whatever).

Is it spinning ? Are the fasteners all tight and snug and so forth ?

If you have disk utility it should see the drive, and it may spin it
up. If you have system profiler, it might show it too. I use 8.1 which
has both but theye can exist in System7 too. If you have SCSI Probe
you can try that as well.

Although others have said SD HD is OK even patch for third part
drives, I use either a later version of disk utility (from 8.5.1 works
with 8.1) or a third party commercial tool.
