Hello! First a thanks to this list for helping me out with this one. I
forget who it was, but they mentioned using a newer 1.44 floppy drive
since it draws less power. With that drive (pulled from my Beige G3)
the Portable boots and runs just fine. Although it would be nice to
get the older floppy working in the G3 since that is the computer I
use to make floppies!

I was wondering what the dip switches are for on the mother board. 4
of them in a clip labeled 1 thru 4. Just curious as to their purpose.
Google reveled nothing.

Also I have no sound. No startup, no tone when changing alert volume.
Speaker is connected and nothing is in the sound out port. Just no
sound. Not sure if this was a common issue or not.

The display is fine except for a few horizontal lines and one vertical
that goes up about 2 inches. In fact most dont go all the was across.
I check the connections both to the mobo and the display board.
Everything looks ok. I must say though that the display is amazing
responsive! Gotta love active matrix!
