A standard 1/2-AA PRAM battery is installed in a matching battery
holder, except, perhaps, on the earliest examples, where the
batteries may have been soldered-in. The same situation applied to
the Mac II.

A 1.44 MB floppy and an 800 KB floppy have almost the same physical
interface. One line, I believe it is pin 17, can be cut, and which
renders the 800 KB floppy compatible.

My Mac II, which was upgraded to a IIx, has one 800 KB and one MB
floppy. The ribbon cables have a yellow stripe instead of a red
stripe, and that yellow stripe indicates that the required pin has
already been cut at the factory.

The machine still cycles at around 8 MHz, and installing faster RAM
sticks will not increase that.
