I would like to connect it [a Mac IIsi] to a Zip drive and am unsure if it's even possible and whether I need to install a specific card, etc...

SCSI type ZIP Drives work great on Mac IIsi's.

Stick the drive at the end of the SCSI chain, set the ID switch, and be sure it's terminated (the other switch on the back). Then install Iomega's driver.

Remember: SCSI is NOT hot-swappable (like USB or Firewire)!!!! Shutdown your Mac *before* fooling with the SCSI cables or powering the SCSI device. Turn on all SCSI devices first, THEN boot your Mac. DO NOT disconnect or turn off ANY SCSI devices while your Mac is running - besides upsetting the OS, that could blow the SCSI port etc.
